The second-hand shopping app has altered its size classifications for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all shoppers about the modification. Digital Channels Backlash Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification versus the original listing because of the remapping. Vinted explained the new system was more in line with similar services. It has advised users to examine their items and update the measurements by hand when needed, resulting in member annoyance. Sizing System Modifications Before the change, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10. The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10. With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18. Shopper Stories A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder". "Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes. Another user, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22. "Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she stated. Required Changes Another shopper, based in Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing". "Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she stated. Marketplace Information The app has more than 100 million members, with 18 million British users. It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop. This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: earlier, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
